San Marcos, TX (September 26, 2020) – A plane accident near the San Marcos Regional Airport sent two people to an area hospital for treatment of injuries. On September 24, the San Marcos Police assisted the Texas Department of Public Safety at the scene of an accident on Airport Drive.
According to reports, just after 7:15 p.m., on September 24, a Team Rocket F1 Experimental Rocket aircraft was attempting to land at the San Marcos Regional Airport at the same time as a Cessna 172.
The two planes collided, causing one to flip over and the second plane to catch fire.
The pilot inside one plane was uninjured in the collision. The pilot and one student inside the second plane both sustained injuries in the accident. Both victims were rushed to area hospitals for treatment.
At this time, investigations are ongoing with the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the National Transportation Safety Board.
