Even without a trailer, the normal semi-truck can carry between 10,000 and 25,000 pounds, and when fully loaded, it can weigh up to 80,000 pounds. Because of a semi-truck's weight, its impact may be fatal in the event of a crash. There is no other accident that causes as much harm. These large vehicles can inflict fatalities, permanent injuries, and wrongful deaths. Each year, hundreds of thousands of semi-truck accidents are reported, many of which take place in Texas.
Commercial vehicles like semi-trucks and 18-wheelers are the biggest vehicles on the roads in our nation. They play a vital role in transporting large, heavy freight across America, such as construction equipment, everyday commodities, and building supplies. Truck drivers, truck manufacturers, and freight companies can all take steps to reduce truck accidents. If they fail to do so and an accident results in harm to a driver, a cyclist, or a pedestrian, they can and should be held accountable for their negligence. If you were hurt in an accident, you might be entitled to damages to support your recovery as well as cash to compensate for your lost wages and medical costs.
