Most of us seldom question whether or not the items we buy regularly are risk-free. Unfortunately, many consumer goods are incorrectly designed, manufactured, or marketed. These blunders might result in serious harm or […]
Where defective products are concerned, there is a lot more good news to go around than bad news. Most of the time, the regulations that are in place upon manufacturers do very well at ensuring that defective products do not make it onto the market or, if they do, that they are recalled quickly. If you're worried about defective products, however, there are some places you can look to keep an eye on whether or not something you use has been recalled.
Recalls.gov is a site that aggregates recall notices including those that apply to consumer products, motor vehicles, boats, food, medicine, cosmetics and environmental products. This site takes information from multiple government agencies and consolidates them so that you can get the most timely information on any recalls that may apply to products that you own.
If you're interested in any specific category, you can simply click on it and you will be brought to a site that will give you information on the most recent consumer recalls. If you want to search for a product that you already own, you can also do that at the site and see whether or not anything you own shows up on the list of recalled products. Most of the time, if you do happen to own a product that has been recalled, you will be informed by the manufacturer that it has been recalled and of any actions that you have to take to remedy the situation.
Some consumer recalls tend to make headlines. Those that apply to cars and other expensive – and potentially dangerous – consumer products tend to get the most attention. You can check resources on the Internet to see if any recalled products show up. You can search any new site for recent recalls and search for products that you own specifically to see if they have been the subject of a recall.
A defective product lawyer may be able to help you if you happen to have been injured by a product that was the subject of a recall. Oftentimes, this is the best recourse for people who have been injured due to a product that was manufactured defectively, designed defectively or that was marketed defectively and who suffered a hardship as a result of using a product. There are limitations on how long you have to act, so be sure to contact a lawyer as soon as possible.
