Reports provided by the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office indicate that an 18-wheeler tractor-trailer and two sedans collided on the dam in Bainbridge on US Highway 190.
The incident blocked multiple lanes on the roadway, blocking multiple lanes of travel. The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the accident scene to assist the Sheriff’s Office.
One was trapped inside the vehicle. Firefighters with the Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene to remove the trapped victim.
Several people involved in the accident suffered injuries. Allegiance Mobile Health and Allegiance Mobile Health – Jasper EMS responded to the scene to care for the victims. One victim involved in the crash suffered severe injuries and was transported by PHI Medical Med 11 to an area hospital for emergency treatment.
Several other victims were transported by ambulance to Tyler County Hospital and Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital for emergency treatment.
Authorities remained at the scene for over two and a half hours as they worked to clear the road.
At this time, investigations into the crash are underway.
