Texas Daycare Abuse Myths: Verbal Abuse Isn’t Harmful

There’s another Texas daycare-abuse myth that we want to cover this week: the misconception that verbal and emotional abuse aren’t harmful to a child. It’s undisputed that daycare physical abuse and daycare sexual abuse are crimes. Yet some people are unsure about the dangers of verbal abuse.
Verbal abuse aimed at children contribute to:

  • Self-esteem issues
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Nervous disorders
  • Behavioral problems
  • Habit disorders
  • Age-inappropriate behaviors
  • Passive behavior
  • Delayed development
  • Physical aggression
  • Self-destructive behavior
  • Mental and psychological issues

Verbal abuse – words that attack and psychologically injure another person – is unacceptable, most especially in daycare and childcare situations. More than that, verbal abuse is usually a sign that there are other issues with your daycare provider and the daycare setting, to include other types of emotional abuse, neglect, or physical abuse.
If you believe that your child has been verbally abused in his or her childcare environment, you should remove your child from that environment immediately, report the abuse, and speak with an attorney. Our Texas daycare-abuse lawyers can help. Call Rasansky Law Firm today.
