Avoiding Tainted Food and Food Poisoning in Texas Restaurants

When you prepare your own food, you know its source, you know you’ve cleaned it, and you know you’ve prepared it properly. In a restaurant setting, it can be hard to know where your food originated from and exactly how it was prepared. Do you know how to avoid food poisoning in Texas restaurants?

  • Ask for that steak well done. If you want to avoid food poisoning, you should avoid undercooked or raw foods at restaurants. That means foregoing steaks with cold pink middles and being very wary of items like raw oysters and sushi.
  • Send back any food that you don’t feel sure about. When it comes to tainted food, this is no time to be polite and eat what is handed to you. If you find raw meat or suspect vegetables on your plate, let your waiter know and ask for something else.
  • Don’t order high-risk foods. The bottom line is that some foods are simply more dangerous and risky than others. To successfully prevent restaurant food poisoning, consider avoiding foods that have been recalled recently along with long-time offenders like raw meats, cold cuts, spinach, soft cheeses, and seafood.
  • Research the restaurant you are going to. Does the restaurant you are going to have a history of health violations? Has anyone been sickened by e.coli or salmonella there in the recent past? Does the restaurant advertise where its food comes from or how it is prepared?

If you are harmed by food poisoning that you believe you contracted at a Texas restaurant or eating establishment, it is important that you understand who is responsible for your injuries and how to prevent others from suffering similar injuries. A Dallas tainted food attorney can help you better understand your case and your legal options. Call Rasansky Law Firm at (214) 617-1886.
