Lubbock, TX – Valerie Carranco Injured in I-27 Collision

Lubbock, TX (February 18, 2020) – A motor vehicle accident on Sunday morning left one driver seriously injured.

At around 3 a.m., on February 16, emergency crews were called to the scene of a collision in the 4400 block of Interstate 27. Reports indicate that 21-year-old Valerie Carranco was traveling north in a Toyota Corolla when she was involved in a minor collision.

Carranco pulled off to the side of the road to call for assistance. A second vehicle stopped at the scene to assist. While resting along the side of the road, Carranco’s vehicle was struck by a Ford F350. The impact of the collision sent the Toyota into the second stopped vehicle.

Carranco suffered serious injuries in the collision and was rushed to UMC for treatment.

Police in Lubbock are currently investigating.
