Leon County, TX – Four People Killed in Plane Crash near Hilltop Lakes

Leon County, TX (September 21, 2020) - A plane accident reported on Sunday morning claimed the lives of four victims. At around 10 a.m., on September 20, a Piper PA-46 aircraft departed from Horseshoe Bay, Texas. The plane was scheduled to land in Natchitoches, Louisiana at approximately 11:44 a.m., but never made it to its destination.

Around 50-minutes after departing from Hilltop Lakes, the plane crashed in an open field. The occupants of the plane were all killed in the crash.

Authorities identified the victims as 59-year-old Missy Lynn Hix and 59-year-old Kenneth Hix, both of Lafayette, and 58-year-old Pauline Ackel and 59-year-old Phillip Ackel, both of Natchitoches, Louisiana.

At this time, the crash remains under investigation by the Federal Aviation Authority, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the National Transportation Safety Board.
