Houston, TX – Sam Houston Tollway (Beltway 8) Crash Results in Fatal Injuries

Houston, TX (February 6, 2020) – A motor vehicle accident on Wednesday claimed the lives of several victims.

On February 5, authorities were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on the Beltway 8-North. Reports indicate that an SUV ran a red light along the roadway and crashed into two other vehicles.

Three occupants inside one of the vans struck by the SUV were killed. These victims were identified as Piedad Soriano, Diana Escobar, and an infant boy.

An 11-year-old inside the vehicle was ejected. They suffered head injuries.

The driver of the SUV, who was identified as 30-year-old Gregory Smith, was arrested and charged with three counts of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
