Hitchcock, TX – Austin Stahl Killed in Plane Crash near S Railroad Ave

Hitchcock, TX (December 10, 2020) – A plane accident reported on Tuesday afternoon claimed one man’s life in Galveston County. At around 2 p.m., on December 8, emergency crews were called to the site of a crash on South Railroad Avenue.

Reports from authorities show that a single-engine plane began to move forward while undergoing maintenance at Scholes International Airport. A pilot, who was later identified as 50-year-old Austin Stahl, jumped into the airplane as it rolled over the chocks and became airborne.

The plane continued forward and crashed a short distance later, near the intersection of South Railroad Avenue and Mike Avenue in the Hitchcock area.

A nearby EMT rushed to the scene to see if she could assist in any way. However, the wreckage was too severe. Stahl was fatally injured in the accident. Crews arrived at the site of the accident and pronounced the man deceased. At this time, the Federal Aviation Authority is investigating the accident.
