Ector County, TX – Fatal Truck Crash on TX-302 Takes Life of Alvin Earl Smith

Ector County, TX (January 20, 2023) – Authorities in Ector County confirmed that 38-year-old Alvin Earl Smith from Nacogdoches, Texas, has died following a truck crash that took on Saturday.

Just after 12 a.m., on January 14, the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a traffic crash on Texas State Highway 302.

DPS crash reports show that in 2007 Lincoln MKZ was involved in a crash with an eastbound semi-truck on Texas State Highway 302 during the early morning hours. The incident caused severe delays in the area.

The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene with the assistance of firefighters and secured the area.

Veterans were called to the scene to care for one person who suffered injuries. The victim, identified as Smyth, was transported to Medical Center Hospital by ambulance. Department of Public Safety confirmed that he later died from his injuries.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation by officials in Ector County.
