Accidents at the American Airlines Center.

The American Airlines Center hosts a variety of events that include but are not limited to Dallas Mavericks NBA games, Dallas Stars NHL games, and several concerts.
Slip, trip and fall Accidents at stadiums such as the American Airlines Center are pretty common due to the large amount of foot traffic. While these injuries can sometimes be the result of overzealous fans who attempt to jump around in the seats, there are also those injuries that result from the negligence of property owners and fall under premises liability.
In a recent accident that occurred at the arena, a 2-year-old girl fell from the 200 level as she and her family were leaving their seats right before intermission during a circus show. According to witnesses, the father was carrying the child as they got up from their seats and quite possibly tripped or somehow lost control of the girl. She landed in the seats below and was later taken to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas in critical condition.

Arenas and premises liability.

There have been serious injuries and even deaths all over the country when patrons have fallen from upper row seats in stadiums and arenas. While these accidents are not common, it does beg the question about why there aren’t more protections against these fall injuries (such as low-cost netting below those upper decks). These accidents are not always minor—sometimes they lead to fatalities. The following are just a few of the many stadium falls that have recently received media coverage:

• Fan fell from upper deck at Olympic Stadium and was reported in critical condition.
• Man fell 65 feet to his death at Turner Field during a Braves-Phillies game.
