With today's strict building codes, regulations and safety standards, structure collapses simply shouldn't occur. When they do, they usually result in very serious injuries, and oftentimes death. If you or someone you love has been the victim of a building collapse accident in Dallas-Fort Worth or anywhere in Texas, please contact Rasansky Law Firm today at (214) 651-6100 for a free consultation.
While New York tops the country when it comes to the number of structure collapses, Texas comes in close at seventh place. In April of 2015, a steel-framed building under construction at Argyle High School in Denton County (just north of Dallas) collapsed, killing one construction worker and injuring three others. The building was going to be part of the school’s football practice facilities.
While investigators haven't yet released their findings on the cause of this particular structure collapse, it was revealed that one of the subcontractors working on the building was previously sued for another construction collapse back in 2007 for "failure to properly weld the structure." That case was eventually settled out of court for an undisclosed amount. The same subcontractor company was also fined by OSHA's federal safety regulators over a separate safety incident three years ago.

We trust that buildings and other structures are built to code, and do not pose a risk of collapse. When they do, a victim (or the family of a wrongful death victim) has every right to file a lawsuit in order to recover compensation for all related damages. The compensation you receive will go a long way in paying for hospital treatment and rehabilitation bills, lost wages and/or diminished earning capacity, and can soften the blow of emotional and psychological pain.
