Baby Trend Car Seat Recalled

Baby Trend has recalled several models of its car seats due to a safety flaw that may result in inadequate protection being provided to the child. The devices include the 6400 Rigid Latch-Loc Base, the 6439 Rigid Latch-Loc, the 6488 Rigid Latch-Loc and the 6481 Rigid Latch-Loc.

Dangerous Manufacturing Flaw

The reason that these items are being recalled is because the incorrect steel was used on the locking pawl for the latch connector, according to the recall notice. Because of this, the locking pawl could potentially crack during an accident, meaning that the child would not have the proper level of protection during a wreck.
This recall has been going on for some time, but is still in effect. The manufacturer will contact people who have purchased this device and will replace the defective part for free.
