How Much Does a Car Accident Attorney Cost?

Hiring a car accident lawyer will cost you nothing out of pocket!

Most car accident lawyers work on contingency, which means you pay nothing unless the attorney wins the case for you and actually puts money in your pocket.
When somebody is injured in a car wreck, there are oftentimes significant financial hardships that they endure as a result. Financial hardship frequently result from having to miss work due to injuries, because of having to replace property that was destroyed or because of actually losing someone in the wreck and, therefore, losing a valuable member of a family. Unfortunately, some of the people who are victimized by negligent drivers end up choosing not to file a lawsuit because they think they can't afford it.

What is a Contingency Fee?

A contingency fee is a prior arrangement between lawyer and client in which the lawyer receives a set percentage of the amount of recovery awarded to the plaintiff in a case.  In most cases, monetary recovery is obtained through settlement, mediation, arbitration or trial.  Generally, when a lawyer takes a case on contingency a client has no obligation to pay the lawyers fee unless the case is successfully resolved.  Most lawyers usually have a contingency fee near 30%.

Contingency fees put the financial risk on the attorney

An attorney may be willing to work with you under what is called a contingency agreement or a contingency arrangement. The contingency refers to the fact that the attorney only gets paid under certain conditions. The attorney has to win money for their client in one way or another to collect their legal fees. They may win money by persuading the party that you are suing to settle and to offer a suitable amount in exchange for not going to court. The attorney, of course, will always confer with you to determine how much would be acceptable for you to drop the claim and will give you guidance regarding how much you can realistically expect to get in a settlement.
If your case isn't going to court, the attorneys will make certain that you are ready to testify if need be and that you understand how the process works. One of the most important things to keep in mind is that there is no way that any attorney can guarantee that you will win your claim. The attorney also cannot tell you how much money you will be awarded. That will be up to the jury. The only way you will find out whether or not your case is likely to win is to go to court.

You can afford an auto accident injury attorney

If you're worried about being able to pay for the costs of suing someone after an accident, remember that a good car accident attorney doesn't charge upfront fees. You can find a car accident lawyer in Dallas (like us) that will be willing to take your case on a contingency, which enables you to seek compensation that you deserve because of having been the victim of a negligent driver.
