Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Texas

San Benito, TX – Rosendo Rosales Struck & Killed on Military Highway (US-281)No matter what method we choose for transportation, there is an inherent risk for travelers. This is particularly true when traveling on roads and sidewalks alongside reckless and negligent drivers. Over the past decade, we have seen a drastic increase in the number of people who choose to walk to their destinations. Although we like to believe traveling on foot is a safe and effective alternative to using motor vehicles, these people are not out of harm’s way. In fact, pedestrians are extremely vulnerable to the impact of motor vehicles in collisions.

More than 600 pedestrians lose their lives each year in traffic-related incidents across our state each year. Driver error and negligence are two of the most common factors in fatal pedestrian accidents across our state. We see far too many drivers on cellphones, texting, eating, or engaging in other activities that take their attention off the road. As a result, innocent victims lose their lives. When victims lose their lives in accidents, due to the reckless actions of motorists, it is imperative that their families reach out to a wrongful death attorney in Texas as soon as possible.

When victims are killed in preventable accidents resulting from negligence, surviving relatives may be entitled to compensation to help alleviate the financial burdens they face in the aftermath of a tragic incident.
