Keeping yourself and others safe on the road means paying attention on the road. To that end, you have to make certain that you strike a happy balance between electronic devices that you depend upon every day and being a safe driver.
Statistics show that thousands of people are killed by distracted drivers every year. To avoid becoming one of those distracted drivers, make sure that you have the following devices if you use your cellular phone or other device while you are on the road.
There are plenty of different mounting devices that you can buy that allow you to look at the screen on your device while you are driving without taking your eyes off of the road. These devices allow you to use the GPS functionalities on your cellular phone or your smart phone without having to look down into your lap instead of looking in front of you. Some of these devices mount directly to the windshield with a suction cup, and these are generally the safest ways to go.
It's illegal to talk on a cell phone without a hands-free device if you're driving. There are plenty of great hands-free devices available. Some cellular phones even allow you to control your phone via voice command while you have one of these devices attached. For the best results, look for the cellular phone devices that don't require a wired hook up. It eliminates yet another possible distraction while you are driving.
It's not a bad idea to turn off text and e-mail alerts while you're on the road. Of course, you won't know if somebody e-mails or texts you while you're driving but, if you have any sense, you won't be able to look at those e-mails or texts until you pull over, so you don't really need to know about it anyway.
Being a sensible driver doesn't make you immune to being hurt by drivers who are completely senseless about how they conduct themselves on the road. A car wreck lawyer can take a look at your claim and see if negligence played a part in it. If someone ran into you because they weren't paying attention to what was going on around them on the road, that may well be construed as negligence by a jury and that may mean that you end up getting a substantial reward for it in court. Talk to a car accident attorney in Dallas about your options.
