Beware of Wolf Packs on the Road

On the road, "wolf packs" form when a group of cars cluster close to one another and end up driving through traffic more or less as a unit.

This is a very dangerous situation. Many different types of accidents can be caused by these wolf packs, and if you're not paying attention and looking for them, you may find yourself in real trouble.

Avoid a Wolf Pack of Highway Drivers
Beware of Other Drivers

Danger 1: stopping distance.

Your stopping distance increases as your speed increases. You always need to make sure you have adequate room to react if someone stops suddenly in front of you. Wolf packs create a danger by grouping a bunch of cars together too closely for them to be able to stop in an emergency. This creates a very real risk of pile-up accidents, particularly in rainy or cold and snowy conditions.

Danger 2: pedestrians.

Any situation where you need to hit the brakes quickly is made worse when you're travelling too close to the cars next to you. If a pedestrian or someone's pet darts out in front of your car, the situation can become even worse. It can put you in a position where saving someone else's life probably means being involved in a rear end collision, meaning you have no safe options.

Danger 3: traffic tickets.

Wolf packs tend to involve not only several vehicles traveling in close proximity to one another; the vehicles are usually speeding, as well. Speeding tickets can be expensive and traveling in a pack of speeding vehicles is no protection against being pulled over. People sometimes have a false sense of invincibility when they have a car in front of them and behind them that are both speeding. This doesn't prevent you from being pulled over and issued a speeding ticket; don't fool yourself.
People who drive irresponsibly can sometimes cause accidents through their own negligence. If you've been injured by a driver who was negligent, contact an auto accident attorney. A Dallas car wreck lawyer will be able to help you deal with any case involving negligence that caused you to come to harm. In some cases, drivers that speed, drive too close to other vehicles and drive in other dangerous ways end up killing someone. An accident attorney can help you sue for wrongful death and catastrophic injury, as well.
