It was later revealed that 53-year-old Qinglei Li of College Station was driving the Nissan. Li crossed the centerline and began traveling west in the eastbound lanes. The Nissan crashed head-on with the oncoming 18-wheeler before being hit by the Hyundai. Li suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the truck and the Palisade were hospitalized for treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the deadly crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
