When you are involved in a crash with a large commercial truck, there is a high chance of sustaining catastrophic injuries. Between 2009 and 2019, 2018 had the highest number of deadly trucking accidents, according to data from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. There were roughly 4,164 such fatalities reported nationwide that year. Additionally, 2019 had 4,119 heavy truck fatalities. Claims involving truck accidents can be very complicated. In order to enforce a complex set of rules, including those relating to licensing, hours of service, driver qualifications, maximum weight loads, the transportation of hazardous waste, speed limits, and vehicle maintenance, the trucking and cargo industry is governed by a patchwork of federal agencies that collaborate with state departments of transportation. Multiple parties may be at fault in a commercial truck or commercial vehicle crash, and because of the enormous size and weight of these vehicles, truck accidents frequently result in catastrophic injuries.
