There are over eleven million operational trucks in the United States, many of which carry dangerous commodities and have overworked drivers. Approximately 90 percent of the 475,000 large truck accidents reported in 2016 were caused by human error. A recent study found that nearly 50 percent of professional truck drivers fall asleep behind the wheel due to the hours they work and travel on the road. So many motorists depend on highways to get to work every day, and it only takes one tired truck driver to completely disrupt your life. Large commercial trucks are nearly 20 to 30 times heavier than a standard passenger car. This size discrepancy can significantly increase the impact and outcome of a traffic accident. You need to hire a trusted attorney if you or a loved one is hurt in a semi-truck accident.
