Lampasas, TX - Juvenile Hurt in Dump Truck Crash on FM 580

Lampasas, TX (February 10, 2024) - On Friday morning, February 9, a crash involving a dump truck left a young boy injured outside of Lampasas. The accident was reported on Farm to Market Road 580 early that morning at around 7:15 a.m. Local reports indicated that a Copperas Cove woman was operating a dump truck on the roadway traveling eastbound at the time of the crash. 

A school bus was reportedly stopped with its lights activated as children boarded. The dump truck driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle. The trucker hit the brakes before the truck overturned. 

The truck narrowly avoided hitting the school bus, which was not involved in the accident. An eight-year-old traveling in the dump truck was hurt in the crash. The injured party was transported to McLane Children's Hospital for treatment. No updates on his condition are currently available.
