Kermit, TX - Deadly 18-wheeler Collision on TX-302

Kermit, TX (April 20, 2024) - A Texas man was killed after a crash involving a semi-truck in the Kermit area on Thursday, April 18. The collision was reported on TX-302 near mile marker 232 early that morning around 1:35 a.m. Local reports revealed that a Dodge Ram pickup truck collided with a 2016 Freightliner truck with a trailer. 

Local sources indicated that the Ram was traveling east in the left lane of the highway as the Freightliner was traveling west. The driver of the pickup, 42-year-old Gaylon Ray Love of Bowie, crossed the center line and entered oncoming traffic. The Dodge crashed into the commercial truck and overturned, causing Love to be ejected from the vehicle. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No additional information on the deadly crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
