El Paso, TX (July 17, 2023) - On Friday, July 14, a woman was killed after being struck by an 18-wheeler in the El Paso area.
The deadly accident was reported on Interstate 10 EB just after midnight. A 25-year-old woman was headed eastbound in a 2017 Kia Rio when she hit a guardrail. A border patrol unit nearby pulled over and turned on emergency lights.
The woman stepped out of her vehicle when she was hit by an oncoming semi-truck. The tractor-trailer hit the other two vehicles as well. The woman suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officer in the patrol vehicle was hospitalized for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
