The accident occurred on Interstate 10 near Transmountain Drive that afternoon. A diesel tanker semi-truck was traveling on the interstate when it lost control and overturned. An estimated 6,000 gallons of fuel spilled onto the roadway as a result of the crash, closing both sides of the interstate for several hours.
The tanker went off-road where it crashed into another semi-truck. Two people were transported to a hospital for treatment of sustained injuries, and one of the victims was listed in serious condition.
