It was later revealed that a woman from Plains was traveling southbound in a 2017 Buick Envision on Farm to Market Road 769 when she disregarded a stop sign at the intersection with TX-83. The driver, later identified as 38-year-old Victoria Denise McKenzie, collided with a 2005 Peterbilt truck tractor towing a 1977 Flatbed trailer driven by 47-year-old Roland Chatham.
