Baird, TX - Several Injured in Crash with Semi Trailer on I-20

Baird, TX (January 22, 2024) - A two-vehicle crash involving a semi-trailer in the Baird area resulted in several injuries on Friday, January 19. The accident was reported that evening at around 9:55 p.m. on Interstate 20 near the 310-mile marker. Local reports indicated that the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck was speeding while passing other vehicles on the shoulder headed westbound. 

The driver failed to maintain a single lane and hit a guardrail. Then, the truck lost a tire and hit a tractor towing a semi-trailer. Four people were traveling in the vehicle, and the driver and front seat passenger sustained injuries. The driver suffered incapacitating injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment, and the passenger was hospitalized by ambulance. 

Emergency responders had to extricate one of the occupants. The truck tractor driver was not hurt in the crash. No additional information is currently available. Local authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
