Amarillo, TX - Truck Driver Hurt in Fatal Head-On Crash on TX-335

Amarillo, TX (June 8, 2023) - On Wednesday, June 7, a 17-year-old girl was killed, and a truck driver was injured following a head-on crash in the Amarillo area. 

The fatal accident was reported on State Loop 335 at around 12:45 a.m. Local authorities revealed that an Amarillo resident was traveling westbound in a 2010 BMW 3281 as a 2022 Freightliner truck tractor towing a semi-trailer was headed eastbound. 

The BMW crossed into oncoming traffic into the path of the semi. The truck driver attempted to take evasive action, but the two vehicles struck head-on. 

The BMW caught fire, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The 63-year-old Amarillo man driving the rig was transported to Northwest Texas Hospital for treatment of sustained injuries. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress.
