Amarillo, TX – One Killed in 18-wheeler Crash at I-40 & Nelson St

Amarillo, TX (April 25, 2024) – There were fatal injuries after a two-vehicle collision in the Amarillo area on Tuesday, April 23. The deadly crash was reported on Interstate 40 WB near Nelson Street early that morning around 11 a.m. Local reports revealed that a van collided with an 18-wheeler at the scene. 

Emergency crews were quickly rushed to the scene to provide the necessary aid. A van was reportedly traveling westbound on the interstate when it collided with the rear of a semi-truck. The incident occurred near a construction zone, and the area was temporarily closed while emergency units were present. One person suffered fatal injuries in the impact. No updates on the accident are currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
