Temple, TX - Two Killed After Truck Load Detaches at TX-36 & TX-317

Temple, TX (April 29, 2024) - Two people were killed and another was hurt after an oversized load detached from an 18-wheeler in the Temple area on Saturday, April 27. The deadly crash was reported at the TX-36 and TX-317 interchange that morning around 11:20 a.m. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to render the necessary aid to the involved parties. 

When authorities arrived, they found a nearly 350,000-pound load had become detached from a truck that was on top of a vehicle carrying three people. It took nearly four hours to extricate the driver from the vehicle. He was then flown to Baylor Scott & White Health for the treatment of life-threatening injuries. No additional information on the deadly accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
