Beaumont, TX - Officer Injured in Crash with 18-Wheeler on Major Dr

Beaumont, TX (February 1, 2024) - Two people were injured after a crash in the Beaumont area on Tuesday, January 30, and one of the victims was a Beaumont police officer. Local reports indicated that the officer was traveling on Major Drive that afternoon when the driver of a Honda failed to yield the right of way while making a turn. The officer attempted to avoid the crash but ultimately collided with the oncoming vehicle. 

The impact pushed the officer’s patrol car into oncoming traffic where it was hit by an 18-wheeler. The officer and the driver of the Honda were injured, and both were transported to a local hospital for treatment. No further information on the accident is currently available. 

The area was temporarily closed while emergency responders were present. Tow trucks were needed to clear the site of the resulting debris and reopen the site to outside traffic. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
