Oakwood, TX (October 7, 2023) - On Wednesday, October 4, a driver was killed following a collision involving a semi-truck outside of Oakwood.
The fatal crash occurred on US-79 early that morning at around 5:30 a.m. Local sources revealed that a 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling northeast as a 2001 Peterbilt 18-wheeler was headed southeast on the highway. The road was wet, and the 18-wheeler was reportedly traveling at an unsafe speed and jackknifed.
The truck hit the Chevy, and the 52-year-old Buffalo man driving the pickup sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported in the accident.
No additional information on the fatal accident has been provided at this time.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in the hands of local law enforcement officials.
