Somerville, TX (September 3, 2023) - On Tuesday morning, August 29, a driver died as a result of a collision in the Somerville area.
The fatal accident took place on Farm to Market Road 60 that morning at around 6:45 a.m. It was reported that a 24-year-old Bryan woman was driving a 2016 Honda and was traveling eastbound on the roadway. At the same time, a 2018 Freightliner semi-truck driven by a 35-year-old California man was headed south.
The trucker failed to yield to the Honda, and both vehicles collided. The woman driving the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. The injured truck driver was transported to CHI St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Bryan for treatment of sustained injuries.
The identities of the involved parties have not been provided.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly accident is in the hands of local law enforcement officials.
