Austin, TX - Pedestrian Fatally Hit by Trash Truck at Riverside Dr & Congress Ave

Austin, TX (August 14, 2023) - On Friday, August 11, a pedestrian was killed after they were hit by a trash truck just south of downtown Austin. 

The deadly crash was first reported early that morning at around 3:30 a.m. in the 300 block of S. Congress Avenue near Riverside Drive. The victim was traveling on foot when they were hit by the oncoming vehicle. The driver reportedly remained at the scene following the accident. 

The adult victim suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to reports from Austin-Travis County EMS. No other people were involved in the accident. Lanes on the road were closed while emergency crews were present. 

At this time, the identity of the deceased party has not been disclosed. No additional information on the fatal accident has been provided.
