Edinburg, TX - Local Man Fatally Hit by Semi-Truck near Hidalgo Cty Courthouse

Edinburg, TX (July 11, 2023) - On Monday morning, July 10, a local man was killed after being struck by an 18-wheeler in Edinburg. 

The fatal accident was reported at the intersection of West Cano Street and 10th Avenue near the Hidalgo County Courthouse. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of a reported pedestrian accident at around 8:36 a.m. A 55-year-old man from Edinburg was crossing the street when he was hit by a tractor-trailer. 

The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The injured party was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased has been withheld. 

No further information has been provided at this time. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly accident is in progress.
