Splendora, TX - 18-Wheeler Driver Killed in Crash with Union Pacific Train on I-69

Splendora, TX (February 17, 2023) - On Monday morning, February 13, an 18-wheeler was involved in a crash with a Union Pacific Train in the Splendora area, resulting in the death of the trucker. 

The incident occurred on Interstate 69 near Midline Road at around 7:30 a.m. The 18-wheeler was in the process of crossing the tracks when it was hit by the oncoming train. The crossing did not have a barrier or any arms, according to local authorities. 

The rig was dagged for several miles, and the operator suffered fatal injuries in the impact. An estimated 100 gallons of diesel fuel was released due to the accident, and authorities said the area may be dangerous to those nearby. 

No further information has been provided. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is underway.
