Texoma reports that a car accident in Pottsboro ended up shutting down an intersection while the wreckage was cleared. According to the report, the accident happened on Highway 289 around noon. A pickup truck went past the stop sign, colliding with another truck and then pushed that vehicle into a third vehicle.
Fortunately, nobody was seriously hurt in this accident. This is often not at all the case, however. In Texas, car accidents have killed over 2000 people in 2012 and, with the holiday season approaching, there's more reason than ever to be wary when you are out on the roads.
When people discuss the hazards associated with car accidents, the thing they'll usually bring up – and the most sensible thing to consider – is the fact that people oftentimes lose their lives in such accidents. When people walk away from a car accident, there's usually a sigh of relief. That being said, being treated for car accident injuries can be very expensive and, on top of that, car accident injuries oftentimes mean that the person affected needs to take time away from work, compounding the financial difficulties.
In light of what can happen to people, it might not seem so important what happens to people's property, but it certainly is. People's vehicles are oftentimes the only way that they have to get to work, take care of errands and provide their means of transportation to assistance in an emergency. It's certainly not the equivalent of losing one's life or one's health but losing one's car is an enormous hardship.
Sometimes, it's negligence on the part of a driver that causes an accident. These accidents sometimes lead to lawsuits, which are filed so that the people injured can get compensation and so that people who have lost their property can get compensation that allows them to get another vehicle.
If you've been in a car accident, it's advisable to talk to a car wreck lawyer about the matter. There are sometimes very significant expenses that result from car accidents and, when this is the case, there's no reason that you should have to pay for the negligent actions of another driver. Contacting an attorney will usually allow you to sit down with them for a free consultation, where they will determine whether or not a lawsuit would be worth your while and whether or not they're the right attorney to represent you in that lawsuit.
