Harris County Day Care Employee Dodges Rape Charges

An accused Houston rapist and former day care employee will not be facing charges, despite multiple attempts by the mother of the victim to bring her daughter justice.

In October of 2006, the 24-year-old man was working in a Harris County day care center where he taught Tae Kwon Do to children. One of his students and day care attendees, a 10-year-old girl, returned from the child care center one day and reported to her mother that the man had sat her on his lap, put a blanket over her, and digitally raped the child.
A medical examine confirmed that the girl had been violated and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office collected more evidence against the man, including a forensic exam and an extensive interview with the girl. Child Protective Services examined the evidence and concluded that the sexual assault took place. After two months of pressure, and after trying to support their employee, the day care fired the man.
However, although a grand jury wanted the case to move forward, a Harris County prosecutor stopped the daycare abuse case in its tracks by saying that there was not enough evidence in the Texas daycare abuse incident to move forward. The girl, who is now 14, was once again called into the prosecutors’ office, where she once again had to relive her sexual abuse. Once again, they came to the shocking conclusion that a trial should not move forward despite the amount of evidence that an assault on a child took place.
