Henderson County, TX – Thomas Carroll Killed in Car Crash on FM 1616

Henderson County, TX (January 13, 2021) – An accident involving motor vehicles claimed the life of one man on Tuesday morning. At around 8:40 a.m., on January 11, troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of a vehicle collision on Farm to Market Road 1616.

Reports from authorities show that 78-year-old Thomas Carroll, from Athens, was traveling west on Trey Circle in a 2015 Toyota Sienna. As his vehicle approached the intersection with Farm to Market Road 1616, the Toyota collided with a 2019 Dodge Ram 3500, which was traveling south on Farm to Market Road 1616.

Both vehicles went off the roadway and came to rest in a ditch on the side of the roadway.

Carroll sustained fatal injuries in the accident and was immediately declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the Dodge, identified as 44-year-old Larry Webb from Athens, was not injured in this accident.

At this time, the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
