Cuero, TX (January 25, 2023) – A truck accident reported on Saturday morning in Cuero claimed the life of a 38-year-old woman from Victoria, Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety was called […]
The man was responsive and moving his arms and legs as emergency crews stabilized the man and rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment. The man has not been identified and his current condition is not known.
According to reports, the man bent forward to catch a foul ball hit by Nelson Cruz in the fifth inning. He fell 30 feet, hit a railing, and then fell into a group of fans. Four people suffered injuries from the fall, including a child who suffered a contusion on his face. All four people were treated by medical professionals at the scene of the accident.
The game was stopped for about 16 minutes as emergency crews worked and players on both teams prayed. Most of the audience was silent as the man was treated and moved.
While some in the stadium lamented that the railing are not high enough – another fan fell from a similar spot in 1994 while taking a picture after a game – Rangers president Nolan Ryan said that the stadium’s railings meet safety regulations and that warning signs are posted along each row to prevent falls.
"It was a pretty disturbing visual," said Michael Young, a player who was not starting in the baseball game that day. "I saw the whole thing. When he was about halfway down, I turned my head. I couldn't watch anymore. I'm glad to hear he's all right. I think guys on both sides were pretty shaken up."
