Ellinger, TX – Home Explosion off TX-71 Injures Two

Ellinger, TX (September 9, 2020) – An explosion in the Ellinger area sent two people to area hospitals with severe injuries.

According to reports, an explosion took place in a home located in the Ellinger area, just east of La Grange, off Texas State Highway 71. The explosion caused severe damage to the home, collapsing it in its entirety. The Ellinger and Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene to extinguish the fire and assist victims.

Two people inside the home were critically injured. Both victims were airlifted from the scene of the incident to area hospitals for treatment. No other injuries were reported in this incident. The impact of the explosion caused damages to some of the homes in the area.

The incident remains under investigation with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshal at this time. However, a propane leak is believed to be the cause of the blast.
