Tyler, TX – John Anthony Scott Killed in Truck Crash on FM14

Tyler, TX (July 31, 2020) – A collision reported on Thursday evening claimed one victim’s life in Smith County. At approximately 11:35 a.m., on July 30, the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Farm to Market Road 14.

Reports provided by troopers with DPS show that a 2014 Lincoln MKZ, driven by 37-year-old John Anthony Scott, was traveling north on Farm to Market Road 14 when it collided with a semi-truck, driven by 47-year-old Wade James Jackson, near the intersection with County Road 38.

Scott sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was immediately declared deceased at the scene of the crash by Judge Shamburger. A passenger inside Scott’s vehicle, who was identified as 28-year-old Mitchell Ryan Steinberger, was treated at the scene of the crash for minor injuries. Jackson was uninjured in the crash. At this time, DPS is investigating the collision.
