Van Alstyne, TX (July 4, 2020) – Just after 9:45 a.m., on July 3, the Van Alstyne Police Department responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident off Farm to Market Road 3133.
Reports from police show that a World War I military aircraft replica was flying through the Van Alstyne area Friday morning when it crashed in a cornfield. The plane’s pilot, who was identified as Kip Lankenau, was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The passenger in the plane, Bruce Kimme, was not seriously injured.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
