Rio Grande City, TX – Teen Critically Injured in Crash on US-83 (E 2nd St)

Rio Grande City, TX (February 12, 2020) – On February 11, the Rio Grande City Police Department responded to the scene of a major motor vehicle accident in the 4700 block of US Highway 83. Reports indicate that a red Chevrolet Avalanche, a brown Chevrolet Malibu, and a gray 18-wheeler collided along the roadway in front of the McCoy’s Building Supply store.

The 19-year-old driver of the Malibu suffered critical injuries and was rushed to McAllen Medical Center for treatment.

The 28-year-old driver of the Avalanche suffered minor injuries and was transported to Starr County Memorial Hospital.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
