Drunk driving is a serious problem in Texas, which is why Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and its sponsors feature events such as Walk Like MADD in order to raise money and spread awareness of the issue. Did you know that Texas leads the nation in drunk driving deaths? About 40% of all traffic deaths in Texas involve a drunk driver, and we as a community have the power to change this.

This year, Rasansky Law Firm is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Dallas Walk Like MADD event which takes place at the Main Street Garden Park in Dallas on September 19, 2015. Our firm is participating in the walk, and we'd love to have you join us! For more information, visit walklikemadd.org/Team/JRLawFirm (link expired).

Purpose of the walk.

The main purpose of the Dallas Walk Like MADD event is to raise funds for the North Texas chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

MADD offers a number of services to drunk driving accident victims and their families at no cost. These services include support from trained victim advocates and a network of peers, guidance through the judicial process, one-on-one support, a 24-hour help line, and much more. This is all provided at no charge whatsoever to victims and their families thanks to the fundraising from events such as Walk Like MADD.

Additionally, MADD passionately advocates for legislative changes and harsher punishments for those who do drive while intoxicated. These proactive efforts are very effective at reducing the number of drunk drivers on our roads. With the help of MADD, Texas most recently passed an ignition interlock bill which requires the installation of an alcohol-detecting ignition interlock device for those convicted of a DWI who apply for (and are granted) an occupation drivers license. This law just went into effect a few days ago on September 1st, 2015.
