4-Month-Old Dies at Iowa Park TX Daycare; Police Investigate

IOWA PARK, TX (11/10/2014) — Police are investigating the tragic death of a 4-month-old child at a home-based daycare facility in North Texas on Monday.
According to Iowa Park police, officers were called to a home-based daycare at around 10:40 a.m. Monday after the child's body was found. Police say the incident is under investigation, and that child protective services (CPS) is part of said investigation. It's important to note that this is a developing news story, and not much information is known at this point.
In my 20+ years experience handling personal injury and daycare abuse cases, I'm confident in saying that these investigations are simply not enough. This is the worst situation a parent can imagine, and a parent in this situation deserves answers. They deserve to have someone fighting on their side to make sure they get ALL of the information.
Do you recall the daycare abuse case from earlier this year where a Parker County daycare had duct taped children to their nap mats and allegedly limited water intake to reduce the number of diaper changes? Texas' child care licensing agency conducted an investigation and actually chose NOT to shut the facility down even though PHOTOS of the abuse were part of the investigation! Instead, this daycare facility was given probation, and is unfortunately still taking care of children today.
My condolences go out to the family of this little angel. While nothing can turn back time, I do hope this case is fully-investigated in a timely matter and that justice (if merited) is accurately served.
