Bailey Goss Killed, Four Injured in Possible DWI Accident

TARRANT COUNTY, TX (9/1/2014) — 17-year-old Bailey Goss has died, and four others have been left injured following a violent head-on accident in rural Tarrant County, near Fort Worth, Texas.

According to reports, 38-year-old Shane Knapp, of Fort Worth, was driving his 1967 Ford Mustang eastbound on White Settlement Road Monday night. He had two passengers: his 16-year-old daughter Shana Knapp and Shana's friend, 17-year-old Bailey Goss. 40-year-old Karla Gabriela Blanco was driving a blue 2014 Toyota van westbound on the same road. She also had a passenger, 41-year-old Oscar A. Blanco-Marquez. At around 8:03 p.m. Monday night, police were called to a head-on accident involving both vehicles at the 12000 block of White Settlement Road (a two-lane road).
The head-on collision apparently split the Ford Mustang in two, separating the front part of the car from the passenger compartment. Some of the passengers were reportedly ejected from the vehicle. Bailey Goss was pronounced dead at the scene at around 8:15 p.m. Shane Knapp was transported by air ambulance (CareFlite) to John Peter Smith hospital. Friends report that he's currently in a medically-induced coma with bleeding in his brain. Shana Knapp was transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth with injuries to her back and liver.
The two occupants of the van, Karla Gabriela Blanco and Oscar A. Blanco-Marquez, were transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth. They are said to have non-life-threatening injuries.
While investigators are still trying to determine which vehicle crossed into oncoming lanes, it was reported that emergency crews noted the smell of alcohol while treating the driver of the Mustang. Officers have obtained a warrant for a blood sample and results are expected in about 2-3 weeks. A positive blood sample may lead to an intoxication manslaughter charge against Mr. Knapp.
Bailey Goss had just started her senior year at Aledo High school.
