The deadly crash was reported on Interstate 10 EB at around 3:41 p.m. A Nissan Rogue was traveling on the highway when it crashed into the rear of an 18-wheeler. The 65-year-old Porter woman and 76-year-old Porter man traveling in the Nissan suffered fatal injuries in the crash and were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The UPS driver involved in the crash was not hurt. The area was temporarily closed while emergency responders were present, and it was later reopened some hours later.
No updates on the accident have been provided, and the identities of the victims have been withheld at this time.
Local law enforcement officials are handling the ongoing accident investigation.
