The deadly accident took place on Interstate 35 near the time of 4 p.m. It was reported that a 40-year-old Laredo resident was driving a 2016 Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling northbound on the highway. The truck collided with a 2022 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer that was also headed north on the roadway.
The truck reportedly slowed down due to traffic on the roadway and was hit by the oncoming pickup. The driver and a 15-year-old passenger in the pickup suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger in the F-150 was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The driver and passenger in the Freightliner were not injured in the accident. The identities of the involved parties have been withheld.
An ongoing investigation into the deadly crash is in progress.
