There were 756 truckers who were killed in the line of duty in 2012, and truck drivers had a nearly seven times greater fatality rate than other industries, according to statistics from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI) and Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses (SOII).
